Raine Weaver x3: To the Kohr

As Khor ran through the woods in the transformed body of Tommy Bradley at a speed of more than twenty five mph, four other people in the neighboring houses were going through similar transformations. In Khors previous life, on another world very far away, his army of warriors was enormous. But the four that had been reborn were the deadliest. They were pure evil and the masters of their craft. Shin Drun had chosen well, Khor thought to himself as he brought up the list of the four in his head.
Moving with the stealth of a tiger, his glassy black reptilian body weaving easily through the thicket of trees in front of him, Khor opened his massive mouth filled with the razor sharp teeth and let out a low, guttural groan. A few seconds passed by and he heard the groan echoed back to him from his left. He knew without looking that Kivis and Korvis, the hunters, were closing in on him. He heard another high, feminine sounding groan to his right and sensed that Khana the stealthy was running with them now. That left Khran the destroyer. Without groaning, the massive giant came crashing through the trees without the same grace and elegance as the rest and fell into line with Khor. The five were now together again and each had a smile splayed across their face. The thrill of the hunt had been lost to them for thousands of years in their isolation. But now that it had suddenly returned to them, they yearned to begin the killing again.
With the information retrieved from the mind of Tommy Bradley, they knew exactly where to find the girl. Giving a loud roar, Khor lead the way forward.

On the other side of the mountain, only miles from where Roland and Raine were currently watching the end of what they thought was a meteor shower, a pinprick of white light suddenly erupted from out of nowhere. An owl perched in a tree searching the forest for a quick meal watched the pinprick of light suddenly grow larger in a matter of seconds. The circle of white that was now as tall as a doorway, but thinner than a sheet of paper, was so bright that it actually made the forest around it turn darker instead of illuminating it. The owl, unnerved by all of this, took flight and flew to another branch without witnessing three figures emerge from it and step out into the world. The circle of white quickly closed up behind them and the forest returned to its normal, quiet serenity.

“Okay Rainedrop. Let’s get inside and chow on some of that pizza before it turns colder than a witches nip.” Roland said, giving Raine a little nudge with his elbow. They had stood outside for the past ten minutes watching the shooting stars. But now that the show seemed to be over the sky no longer held their attention.
Walking into the house, Raine quickly ran over to one of the four stools surrounding the island in the middle of the giant kitchen and dove into a slice of the pepperoni pizza. “I’m starving!” she managed to mumble through a mouth full of food.
Roland gave a little chuckle and grabbed a stool on the opposite side of the island, biting into a slice of his own. He was so tall that his head came close to bumping into the pots and pans hanging from a row of hooks above them.
He dropped the slice of pizza and walked over to the black refrigerator huddled in the corner. "You thirsty kid?? Coke, purple stuff, Sunny D??"
Raine laughed through a bite of pizza, almost spitting it across the room. "Crap Dad, you almost made me choke. Just water, thanks."
He grabbed a Heineken out of the fridge and walked over to the wall of handmade cabinets that lined the side of the kitchen. Grabbing a glass out of one, he filled it with water from the sink and settled back down onto the stool.
Cracking the Heineken, he downed about half and then set it down on the island, expelling a giant burp in the process.
"Awww man, that's gross Dad." Raine said, taking a huge gulp of water to wash down the pizza.
Roland just shrugged his shoulders like it was nothing. "So that meteor shower was pretty cool, wasn't it?"
Raine stoppped chewing for a second so she could respond, "It was definitely cool! I can't wait to ask Mr. Burke about it at school tomorrow. That had to be even better than the Leonid meteor shower! He's such a dork, I know he'll totally flip out over it."
"Ha! I bet he will. So are you going to talk to Andy McAllister about it, too?" Roland winked at Raine after he asked this.
"Dad...Andy's just a friend."
"Right, oh of course. I just thought that he might 'flip out' over something like that too."
"Yeah, he will. He's kind of a dork about this stuff." Raine giggled inwardly thinking of the short, soft spoken Andy who was the epitome of geekiness. She could picture even now the smile that must be plastered to his face after watching the metoer shower tonight. When she saw him at school tomorrow she knew that he'd be talking a mile a minute about it and his eyes would be blinking frantically behind those thick, coke bottle glasses. "Yeah, he's definitely a dork." Raine laughed out loud at the thought, but a part of her couldn't wait to see him. She would never admit it, especially to her Dad, but she did think of Andy as more than a friend.
"Allright kiddo, speaking of school." He looked at his watch and saw that it was 10:53. Letting out a low whistle he said, "I think it's time for you to go wash up and hit the hay."
Raine feigned disappointment, but gave a quick little smile and said, "Okay Dad. Do you need any help cleaning up here?"
"Nah, its okay sweetie. Besides, it's way past your bedtime. Now go get some sleep and I'll see you in the morning." As an afterthought he added, "I love you Rainey."
"I love you too Dad." She walked over and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Goodnight." She smiled and then scampered off to her bedroom.
